My husband’s work now is not actually his line of work but since we are new in this place and we need to accept things that are beyond our control we really don’t have enough choice. Nothing is permanent and I am pretty sure God has a better plan for us. I am trying not to look back……but there are times that I can’t keep myself from thinking our life back home.
My hubby came home yesterday bringing all his tools which are all strange to me. I saw those cable trays and other telephone and cable wires he is using for his new job. He said cable trays can be installed on ceilings, walls, or under raised flooring so that cable wires are not scattered all over.

Life is indeed full of struggles!
Struggle is the very condition of life, and work is but one of its basic expressions. The world is made possible by work, but there are some societies in which not everyone is made to undergo the same degree of struggle. Some struggle to fulfill an obsession or reach a lofty dream. Others have to struggle just to meet the most basic of necessities before indulging in their dreams. Still there are those who make others do the struggling for them. In developing countries, majority of the people work so hard for so little. But it is their hard work that sustains the nation and makes life easier for the wealthy few.

Just right after Christmas Day, I asked hubby to wake up early the next day to see how’s the boxing day going. I just heard it before and had no idea what is it all about. They said some people fall in line as early as 12midnight. It must be a real big discount for some items. We went to some electronics stores and really saw long lines of people taking advantage of the netbook on sale at the lowest sale price of $199.
We went to department store instead because I don’t have the patience to wait outside under the zero degree temperature. I saw winter clothes at 50% discount. I looked for carhartt sweatshirts for men and luckily found some on sale too. I bought sweatshirts fro my two boys and winter jacket for my husband.

While viewing some pictures on face book , I saw a friend’s message to my old friend back home. I browsed the pictures and saw my old friend bed ridden. At first, I didn’t recognize her face. She’ s far different since the last time I saw her. She is now suffering from cervical spinal stenosis and scheduled for surgery as soon as possible. Spinal stenosis of the spine is a bone disease involving the narrowing of the spinal canal at the level of the neck. It is frequently due to chronic degeneration, but may also be congenital. Treatment is frequently surgical.Numbness at the back and shoulders are symptoms of this sickness. Mostly seen from older people who are suffering from osteoarthritis.
I used to see my friend active and healthy. I hope that she will recover from this condition after her surgery.

I was busy buying some fruits and vegetables at the supermarket when an old friend approached me at the vegetable section. The last time I met her was some months ago. She said they are now hiring part time employees at the cashier section. She asked me if i want to apply. How can I? I have no experienced in handling even a simple cash register. She said being a cashier now is easy because of the advanced technology they use like the barcode scanner. Barcode scanners can come in several different forms. It will depend on the nature of your business as to what type will suit you best. Handheld scanners are very commonly used in checkout lines.
And besides, new hired employees will undergo training before their actual duty at the check out counter.

Don’t be afraid to try new things!
Good fortune doesn’t come to us, but we go to it by taking risks, wrote Vigil, the greatest of the Roman poets.
Fortune doesn’t come to us by luck, it sides with those who dare. Success has nothing to do with luck. We have to earn it through diligence, discipline, determination, and of course, taking risks and chances every day. What separates achievers from ordinary people is their willingness to take optional, as well as necessary risks.
Many people are afraid to try new ways outside of their comfort zone, as they do not feel comfortable to doing they are not used to. But how can we grow if we keep on doing the same things over and over again. We are meant to grow, to experience unlimited adventures offered by life.
As one author says, “let’s practice shedding our skin, bursting through our present comfort level and keep stretching by regularly taking risks.”

A month before our flight to Canada, I started packing our things. My husband said we don’t need to bring all our stuff because it will cost us too much for the freight even though first time immigrants are tax free. So I started sorting out things that are important to me. Those things that have sentimental value like album pictures, trophies, medals, awards from school, remembrance gifts from special friends and so on. Some clothes that are not useful for the cold weather were donated to the charity. I also put inside the box my crystal collection, cross stitch frames, lilliput houses collection and vintage cars miniature.
Twenty boxes of selected items were packed and shipped to Canada a week after our arrival. Just in time for our needs. They are all important to me more than the signature items I have.

It took months to decide whether to have or not a swimming pool in the house. we have to consider its advantage and disadvantage specially for the small kids. We can’t promise to keep a close eye on the children and pets in our house. Specially children who are very curious on everything. And we all know that swimming pools can pose serious safety risks and no one wants to be party to an accidental drowning. That’s why we decided to put a swimming pool fence all over the pool. And remember that your pool fence must meet local building codes.
Better safe than sorry….

It’s funny but would you believe that we bought gps for truckers few days ahead before we bought a car. We’re not that excited I think :). We are new here in Canada and as expected we really don’t know where to go without the help of GPS. It is really helpful even though it is annoying sometimes hehehe. Hearing the voice saying, “in 350 meters turn left to 98th avenue and keep left” and the most promising “recalculating.”
We just had a hard time choosing which GPS is the best buddy on the road. We choose from Garmin GPS, Magellan GPS and TomTom GPS. Though different reviews were given we still need to choose the best.

Gift giving is already an old tradition during holiday season. But mind you, it’s not easy to buy gifts specially when the person is really close and special to you. We have to consider if the recipient will be happy with the gift that we are going to give.
Last Christmas My kids and I received lots of gifts. Clothes, scarfs, winter jackets and so much more, but one gift that caught my attention was the one my husband received from his best friend. He received 3 pieces of personalized beer mug gifts. It feels good when you see that the gifts are made specially for you. Seeing your name printed on it. Whether on mugs or on tshirt.
I remember during the old days wherein departments stores and supermarkets use a cash register machine where only cash are accepted. Cards are not welcomed so you need to look for the nearest ATM machine to withdraw cash. But nowadays, a modern day POS system has the capacity to monitor the stock amounts of an outlet. These can also watch the stock amounts of all stores of a respective retail system chain. This is particularly advantageous for almost any entrepreneur, as smart stock level optimization means fewer hours spent taking care of stock levels and more cash flow mainly because of the store efficiency this system will produce.
My father and his wife , not my mom, lived in Seattle USA. We were still very young when he left and decided to lived in Seattle with his new family. Now that he is already 80 years old and needs proper care, his wife, my stepmom asked our consent if she can bring our dad in an Assisted living seattle home for the aged near their place. I am very hesitant at first but when I saw how hard and difficult to deal with an eighty year old man. I decided to give my consent.
The wife and my stepsisters go to work everyday. My father stays at home for about 4 hours alone. He almost bring the house into ashes when he cooked and forgot to turn off the stove. Anyway, he will be given enough care and attention at the center .
Just two months before leaving saudi arabia, we asked a good friend of mine if he can find a good place where homes for rent are available in Canada. We have lots of stuffs to bring and we really need a spacious place where we can have a good start. A place where we can be comfortable for the rest of our stay in Canada.
It is not easy to find one but we are one of the lucky people who easily found the right place. A big place at a very reasonable rental fee. One more thing , all utility expenses are inclusive of the monthly rental fee. Although we are not planning to stay here longer we still need a comfortable place.

Do you ever eat when you’re not hungry? Would you rather eat your least favorite meal with a favorite person than eat your favorite meal alone? Does the environment in which you eat affect how much you eat? If you answer any of these affirmatively, then your biological drives are being modified by other needs.
The body should regulate its own weight, yet many people eat when they are not hungry. To begin with, many people respond to external cues–the attractive restaurant, good company. They are responding to eating as a social event. Perhaps they are being driven by their need for social companionship.
What motivates people to eat too much or to snack monotonously between meals when they are alone? We cannot be so sure, But some believe that these people overeat because food is a substitute for what they lack emotionally. a response to emotional deprivation. In cases like these, emotions may be the motives that actually channel behavior.
Then there are people who clean up their plates whether they are hungry or not. Perhaps these are the people who were told as children, “clean up your plate!” Perhaps a leftover drive to please a parent in response to the need to feel loved and accepted.
All these behavioral patterns represent the way a biological drive is modified by other needs-social and psychological. Drinking and sleeping, the other biological needs, are affected in similar ways.

A reminiscence of the very cold weather in the early 80s. The central region can expect lows between 5 and 12 Celsius.
